Built in 1894 for the National Guard, the Phemister family converted this unique 50 room armory into their private residence. Featured on HGTVs Rezoned show, the castle has 50 rooms and covers 36,000 sq ft. Near Saratoga and Cooperstown in the scenic Mohawk Valley. The friendly vibe and historic presence make Amsterdam Castle a treat for families and couples alike. Shoot hoops in the gym, lounge on the front moat with your computer, walk to dinner or borrow our bikes for the Eric Canal bike trail. We use only environmentally friendly cleaning supplies and serve local farm produce whenever possible for a sustainable environment. Check-in is at 3 00 PM. Guests planning to arrive before or after this time must contact the property at least 48 hours prior to arrival to receive special check-in instructions.
