Minnesota Hotels

Known as "The Land of 10,000 Lakes," it is no wonder that Minnesota is a haven for water lovers looking for sand, aquatic sports and great fishing. In addition to the many bodies of water located in this midwestern state, the natural beauty makes for some great hiking and camping adventures. If you are looking to spend some time in an urban setting, Minnesota's Twin Cities--Minneapolis and St. Paul--offer plenty of culture and entertainment.

One of the state's prime lake resorts is located at the Alexandria Lakes, which are popular for their watersports and prime fishing locations. Cast your line and you might reel in a northern pike or large mouth bass. Other popular beach locations include Brainerd Lakes, which consist of over 460 individual lakes, and the Central Lakes, where the mighty Mississippi River begins.

Perhaps the largest attraction in the Twin Cities is the Mall of America, which is the largest indoor shopping center in the country. The mall's 500 stores and indoor theme park attract more people each year than any other site in Minnesota. While you are in the area, be sure to check out the world-class art museums, the Science Museum of Minnesota and the Minnesota History Center. If you are feeling lucky, try your luck at the Mystic Lake Casino, located on the outskirts of the city.
