Nebraska Hotels

If you've never visited Nebraska, you are missing out on beautiful national parks, historic landmarks and Native American history. A stop along the Oregon Trail, many early pioneers traveled through this large state on their way to the west coast. Both adults and children will be amazed at the gorgeous landscapes and the many sights that Nebraska has to offer.

Some of the most popular Nebraska attractions include Chimney Rock National Historic Site, the Joslyn Art Museum, Scotts Bluff National Monument and the Durham Western Heritage Museum. Chimney Rock is probably one of the most familiar landmarks in Nebraska. At 500 feet tall, this massive pinnacle of rock was a landmark for the early pioneers heading west. When they reached Chimney Rock, they knew that they were approaching the great Rocky Mountains. Another important landmark is Scotts Bluff, which helped guide early pioneers and Pony Express riders. The famous bluff, Mitchell's Pass and the prairie lands are set aside on a 3,000 acre national monument to commemorate westward expansion. While visiting Scotts Bluff, check out the nearby Oregon Trail Museum.

The Durham Western Heritage Museum demonstrates the building of the railroad and celebrates the age of railroad travel, which heightened the ability of early settlers to travel from one part of the country to the other. The Durham Museum also features impressive collections of coins and photos. The Joslyn Art Museum displays a collection of fine art by Native artists and craftsmen from the past two centuries.
