Petoskey is a Lake Michigan resort town on the Northwest side of Michigan's lower peninsula. It is 35 miles south of the ferries to Mackinac Island. The Inn is located inside Bay View, a Victorian Chautauqua community and National Historic Landmark. The Inn is open to the public and Bay View is open to the public for concerts and live theatre in the summer. It is a music campus and residency to live here is May through October. The Inn is open year round for visitors to enjoy the area which has lake activities in summer, kayaking, fishing, canoeing, and biking and fall color as well as the best downhill skiing resorts in Michigan within 9 miles of the Inn. The Inn hosts murder mystery, paranormal festival, dixieland jazz, country dance, and other events and the Art Center downtown Petoskey has year round events also.
The Terrace Inn and 1911 Restaurant is located Historic Bay View Association, a Victorian Landmark nestled along the shores of Lake Michigan and Little Traverse Bay. This summer resort since 1875 hosts concerts and plays each season with guests receiving discount pricing like residents. Tennis courts, private beach and miles of nature trails can be enjoyed while downtown Petoskey's quaint shopping district is just a mile away. 38 rooms have private baths, cable TV, wifi, clock radio, and include daily maid service and breakfast. No smoking is allowed in Bay View. The restaurant serves fresh cuisine from the region, the specialty being Planked Whitefish, and dinner is served nightly in summer and weekends off-season, generally. Reservation for the Terrace are highly suggested. A full bar serving wine, beer and cocktails is also available. Rooms range from cozy, cottagey to suites.
